Adventure Ahoy!

Single for the first time in a decade.
A humbling truth revealed itself.

Fear and distraction have held prime real estate.
Suffocating my Spirit with well-crafted excuses.

Standing alone.
I’m learning there’s nowhere to hide.
No one to blame.

Hiding and blaming was a convenient fiction.
A ruse to stay safe, small, and
out of reach from ridicule (mostly my own).

But now I see the game.
And the sweet meek of it lights the match.
For a bonfire of change.

To the creative landscapes that call my soul;
to the unmade art books and unhung exhibitions;
to the pages of unpublished poetry…

I say,
Adventure Ahoy!

The first of those poems, now public.
